Holocaust Educational Project (2013/2014)

The Holocaust Educational Projects were 2 exciting projects funded under the European Union’s PEACE III Programme which was managed on behalf of the Special EU Programmes Body by the North East PEACE III Partnership.

These projects aimed to bring an innovative and alternative perspective to informing people about sectarianism and racism. Both were used as a tool for engagement and learning across three themes; leadership, faith work and youth & schools.

The Holocaust Educational Projects had two elements.

  1. Facilitated seminars and learning workshops – targeting 120 participants for a series of workshops and seminars on the theme of the Holocaust.
  2. Project participants undertook a facilitated visit to the former Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau in Poland – 100 participants who completed the seminars and workshops in element 1 attended this, to further their learning with a detailed study visit to Poland, along with pre and post departure workshops.

The projects engaged with 120 participants from across the North East PEACE III cluster in the Council areas of Ballymena, Ballymoney, Coleraine, Limavady, Larne and Moyle.
