‘Never underestimate the vital contribution of grassroots communities who continue to work to sustain the peace on the frontline’

– Angila Chada, Executive Director, Springboard

Following on from last months successful Our Lives, Our Legacy event we found ourselves back in Crumlin Road Gaol last night hosting a dinner for delegates of the One Young World summit ahead of the final days focus on Peace & Reconciliation. Sharing some highlights of Springboards 31+ year journey and giving context to the reality of building peace in a divided society.

Delegates had the opportunity to view some of the exhibits from the youth-led Our Lives, Our Legacy group and heard personal testimonies from two of our young leaders, Caolan and our newest staff member John.

Caolan and John spoke of their experiences growing up in Belfast after the signing of the Good Friday Agreement, their hopes for future generations and how they are using their voices to be the architects of their own futures.

As always one of the main highlights involved the networking opportunities in the room, from South Africa and Vietnam to our own local ambassadors there were countless opportunities to share perspectives and learning. It was great to be involved in the summit and make connections with all the future young leaders at an amazing 4 day conference hosted in Belfast.
