Springboard brought together over 70 young people to celebrate Good Relations Week 2025 through the exciting youth-led event, “Common Ground.”
The event was designed to create a space for connection, creativity, and meaningful dialogue among young people and members of staff. The theme, “Connect: People, Planet and Prosperity,” guided a series of immersive stations that encouraged reflection on what it means to build a more inclusive and peaceful society.
Participants engaged in a variety of interactive activities, including:
- A collaborative art station fostering connection through creativity
- A story-sharing space where young people from diverse backgrounds shared lived experiences
- An environmental workshop planting seedlings for a shared garden, symbolising growth and care for the planet
- A cinema space showcasing Springboard’s peacebuilding work through a short film (insert link to OLOL video)
- A music station featuring an original song written and recorded by Springboard young people
- Interactive discussion boards exploring how people, planet, and prosperity relate to good relations
One young person commented,
Today’s event highlighted that it’s important to be yourself and be supportive and kind to others from all backgrounds. No matter how different we are, we also have a lot in common.”
The activities gave young people the opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations and strengthen bonds between individuals and communities. The event highlighted the power of dialogue when asking young people to talk with each other about their communities and how youth leadership helps shape a society rooted in mutual respect and shared purpose.
As part of Good Relations Week, Common Ground stood out as a celebration of diversity, creativity, and collaboration, demonstrating how young people can lead the way in building bridges across communities.
